The Mentors

CARL is a core collaborative initiative of two senior research academics at two Universities (Professor Jon Adams, University of Technology Sydney, Australia and Professor Jan Hartvigsen, University of Southern Denmark). Both Professors have extensive experience and track records in health sciences research and mentoring and leadership and both Universities have developed extensive programs and track records in chiropractic research.

PROFESSOR JoN ADAMS

Jon Adams is Distinguished Professor of Public Health and Director of the Australian Research Consortium in Complementary and Integrative Medicine (ARCCIM), University of Technology Sydney, Australia. Jon is also a Fulbright Senior Scholar. He is also a Senior Fellow and Senior Mentor on the Oxford International Primary Health Care Research Leadership Program, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford.

Professor JAN HARTVIGSEN

Jan Hartvigsen is Professor and Research Leader at the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics at the Faculty of Health, University of Southern Denmark. Jan is also Senior Researcher at the Chiropractic Knowledge Hub and co-head of the multidisciplinary Center for Muscle and Joint Health.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR DIANA DE CARVALHO

Diana De Carvalho is Associate Professor in the Division of Population Health and Applied Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. Her research focuses on spine biomechanics, examining how seated postures and prolonged sitting influence spinal loading, movement, and low back pain. Diana collaborates internationally to advance understanding of spinal health and ergonomics and is deeply committed to mentoring early-career researchers and fostering interdisciplinary leadership in musculoskeletal research.

Professor GREG KAWCHUK

Greg Kawchuk was a Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine in the Department of Physical Therapy, University of Alberta, Canada. Greg was also an adjunct professor in the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics at the Faculty of Health, University of Southern Denmark and at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.
